You had Romano in your arms as you ran together with Vlad, getting further and further away from that house. You didn't know where exactly you ran to, but you didn't care as long as you were safe there. Archí would catch up later and then you would leave for a new home, where you could start anew. A new start together with Archí and Romano. You smiled slightly at that thought.

But first you had to make sure you were safe until Archí could join you.

It didn't take long for you to find some sort of shelter. It was quite far from the house and it was no where near the forest where the remains of your mansion were. It was a vacant house a few miles outside of town. Or rather, it was a vacant cabin, seeing as it was rather small.

The exterior was a soft golden hue and the doors and window frames were made of dark brown wood. The entire cabin seemed rather warm, not that warmth really mattered to you or Vlad.

There was a small garden with half wilted flowers and plants, and the grass was quite tall and there was a fair amount of weeds. It seemed like no one had lived in the house for at least a few months. All in all, it was a place not many would visit. In other words; it was safe.

You and Vlad went in and you carried Romano. Once you entered you immediately closed the door before setting Romano down on his feet on the floor.

In the cabin was a small kitchen, a living room and a few more rooms down a hallway. And there was a backdoor of glass leading to the backyard. The interior was decorated in fairly fresh fashion in contrast to the warmer hues outside. The colors scheme inside seemed to be more to the white, gray and a few complement color specks, whereof forest green, brown and blue could be included, here and there.

Even if the house seemed like no one had lived there for a few months it still had a fair amount of furniture, like a couch, coffee table, a couple of recliners, a carpet, a small book case, and few more smaller things. And of course the kitchen was fully usable.

Romano quickly threw himself on the couch that was in the living room and rested his head on one of the few cushions that was on it, while Vlad took place in one of the recliners. You went over to the couch and sat on the armrest by Romano's head so you could pet his hair.

You smiled down at him gently. Romano lifted his head at your touch and met your gaze with eyes full of relief and happiness, and a small smile tugging at his lips.

“It's not much, but it's good enough. At least here we'll be safe.” Vlad spoke up.
“Yes, I agree.” you said and nodded your head to him. “As long as we are safe I am satisfied.” You continued to pet Romano's hair.
“And inasmuch as I have you, Romano, I shall always be in bliss and blessed.” Another gentle smile made its way onto your lips as you said that, and Romano's own smile spread just a tad in response.

Vlad watched them with a smile of his own on his lips. Yes, Romano must indeed be the one to finally free you of your agonizing loneliness, that had stretched out over several decades and started even before you became a vampire. He was glad that you finally had found him. You deserved it.

This was a blissful moment for the two of you, but it had to be broken for some things, that were in dire need of explanation, were about to be brought up. And Vlad would have to play the role of teller.

“We'll wait for unchi here, and while we wait I might as well tell you guys something.” Vlad said and leant back in his seat.

~*~*~*~*

Back at the house, they all sat down in the couch and the remaining recliners. Lukas and Arthur placed Antonio in one of the recliners before seating themselves in their own. Bella and Ludwig, who had come down, took a seat in the couch with Feliciano securely between them. Feliciano looked like he had just awoken from some sort of nightmare, and kept shifting a bit uncomfortably in his seat. However, considering the previous events, that was probably the case in this situation.

“So, where shall I begin?” Archí wondered out loud.
“How about you tell us who you are and your relationship with that woman from before and Vlad.” Arthur stated.
“My name is Archí Corona, and my relation to the both of them are very different.” he began. “[Name] is someone I took under my wing when we were 'younger'. She had lost her family, and was an outcast  in the town she lived in, so I made her my protege. We quickly bonded and we became like family.”

Lukas straightened up in his seat and adjusted himself a bit. He had a hunch about what the man and that woman were, but he needed to hear it to be certain.

“How long ago was that?” he asked.
“Just what are you? You and that woman?”

Archí leant back in his seat and answered Lukas' question. He knew it was risky, but he had promised to tell them everything and for them to understand, they needed to know. And he could always threaten them to stay silent. For it was of utmost importance to keep their existence a secret. Or at least, make sure the knowledge of them didn't spread too much.

“We, and your friend Vlad, are vampires.”
Lukas' brows furrowed ever so slightly. 'I knew it.' he thought.

While Lukas, Arthur and Feliciano, who was still too dazed to comprehend anything, remained unfazed the others freaked out, throwing questions here and there about how, why, when and what.

Lukas had started to have his suspicions about his friend a few months back, but never really gotten any real proof to support his suspicions, so eventually he laid the subject to rest. However, Vlad's recent attitude change had made Lukas' suspicions rise again, and when you had appeared in the state you were in, and the way Vlad had acted when you did, almost completely confirmed it. However, he had still needed to hear it to be certain. Archí had granted him that when he did indeed confess to what they were.

Arthur on the other hand hadn't had any suspicions at all. However, he had noticed how sensitive Vlad was about the subject of vampires. But he never really thought anything of it. Then you appeared after they had freed Romano. And after a quick study of your appearance he had come to the conclusion that you were a vampire. But when it came to Vlad... He had never suspected him to be one as well, that was really the only surprise in Archí's confession, but Arthur didn't let it show.

As the others assaulted him with questions, Archí simply sat back and let them ask. He saw no reason to answer one question after another, creating a mess of everything he said, when he could simply just let them ask their questions, get a full view picture of what they wanted to know, and then answer them in a summarized way that was much easier to understand, while at the same time answering every question.

Soon they were out of question, but Ludwig was the last to ask one last question.

“For howv long have jou, jour kind I mean, been living in zhe shadowvs?”

Archí nodded as he gathered the questions in his mind, and mapping out an explanation for them, before he started his story. He told them of the times when people still believed in vampires, they were feared, but still held a certain authority in society due to their supernatural abilities.

He also told them what you had told Romano about the blood lust of vampires, and how it varied with time, experience and the turning itself.

He told them of the dark ages of the Hunters', that took place around 500 years before, and the humans' horrendous and torturous methods of 'exorcising' their kind, the vampires' seclusion from there on, how they lived after that. How they decided to make the humans forget about their existence to stay alive, and were forced to feed from animals until no one believed they were nothing more than a myth.

“That's the general history of our kind, although I know I promised to tell our tale, this piece of history is important for understanding our, mainly hers, past.” Archí said.

“Now as I said, I took [Name] in and made her my protege, due to the town she lived in had shunned her, and eventually came to look upon her as a daughter. I also mentioned that this took place almost 700 years ago, and she is, as you now know, a vampire. I was the one who turned her, but she willed it. She wanted to be turned. She felt like there was nothing for her in the mortal world in any way.”

“[Name] has always been an independent, but compassionate woman, ever since I met her. However because of her independence, people shunned her and avoided her like the plague. She never made any friends, because they pushed her away for both her beauty and her personality. She was ahead of her time, you can say.”

“Her parents abandoned her when she was only 14, so she was forced to take care of herself from that point on, and I met her when she had just turned 19, and by that time she was a blossoming young woman.”

Archí continued to tell them about the time he spent together with you, about your transformation, and how he taught you everything you knew about being a vampire and how to treat others with your new found powers. He also briefly mentioned the powers he had given to you through your transformation.

“So basically...” Ludwig started. “she has zhe ability to enchant humans und make zhem feel affections for her?”
“That would be the power I gave her, yes. However, it would seem that it's more than I imagined.”

Antonio's eyes widened at that piece of information, and he almost leapt out of his seat.

“So that's why Roma's so entranced with her?! She's been hypnotizing him!?” he shouted angrily.
“In the beginning I would say so, yes. But this power of hers isn't just entrancing those who hear her, and the magic can be overcome, but that requires quite some time. Although I would say that isn't the case with that young man.”
“But what about Feli here?!”
“He was indeed under her influence, but he's leaving that influence as we speak.”

Bella let out a sigh of relief, at those words. Ludwig did the same, for now they knew that their friend would be okay. However, that still left Romano.

“Now, may I carry on with story?”

Eventually Archí got to the point in the story of their past where you and him parted ways, after the humans of the town had attacked your shared home and burnt it down, leaving you homeless and roaming.

“After we parted ways I tried to find her again, but it was as if she had just vanished within air. I spent centuries up until now, trying to find her. It was also during that time that I stumbled upon your friend Vlad, who happens to be my blood-related nephew.”

Everyone's jaws fell and collided with the floor, excluding Lukas, who simply raised an eyebrow. The thought of Archí and Vlad being blood-related hadn't even once ever crossed their minds, and there he just threw it at them just like that. They couldn't believe it.

“I can see you're all shocked, and so was I when I found out. I hadn't imagined that I had a nephew, yet there he was in his glory.”

~*~*~*~*

COSA DIAVOLO?!?!!” Romano exclaimed at the new piece of information the red eyed Romanian had just told him, while said Romanian only gave a slight chuckle.
Da, we don't look it do we. But it's the truth, and that's how I'm bound to [Name].” he said, gesturing to you with a hand sweeping motion.

You were stunned too as you processed the information. In a sense this man was your cousin. He was the nephew of the man who raised you as his own after he took you in, and the one who helped you meet the love of your life that was at that very moment in the room with you.

“Bastard! Why didn't you-a tell me you were-a related, dammit?!”
“I did tell you that [Name] and I were bound together through family business, don't you remember, Romano?” Vlad asked the Italian man, whose rantings stopped as he remembered the Romanian's words from when he told him.

“How come-a you know [Name] though?”
“It's a long story and involves a lot of family business.” Vlad answered vaguely. “I'll tell you when the time comes.”

Indeed it had been complicated family business. The man who practically raised you and given you this life, and the man who were helping you now were related, making you related as well through a complicated mix of family ties, and blood ties. This would require some time for you to digest.

Unchi always used to tell me these stories of a tânără femeie [young woman] he used to care for and live with, and from whom he had been separated from. He had swore to find her again, and he told me to look after her if I ever found her.”

“And then centuries later I stumbled across your castel [castle], [Name]. I made sure to collect information about from other vampires to ascertain whether you were her or not. And through that I learnt of your past.”

“I tried to look out for you like I had promised unchi, but... Well... Let's just say that something got in my way, and eventually, with time, I just unconsciously pushed my promise back into the depths of my mind. It didn't get dug out until after I had joined the others in their search for you and Feli, Romano. And it wasn't until then, that my memories started to return to me.”

“Anyway, I guess you can start calling me 'verişor' [cousin] now, [Name].” Vlad chuckled, trying to lighten the mood just a tad.

However the both of you were just silent, taking in the information he had given you. Which was not an easy task, considering how much information that was. Not only did you now have another relative, but he had also made some kind of promise to the man who was your father-figure.

For Romano, it was simply hard to wrap his head around all of this in general. So much had changed these past two days. Just two days ago you had been happily been together in your mansion. Now the next thing after another just seemed to pop up and the past that connected you seemed to be a lot more complicated than he first thought. He loved you, that much he was certain of, so he knew he might have some rough months ahead of him, with your world changing as much as it had these past couple of days.

Your house, your home, your haven, burning down to the ground once again, your father-figure returning, and now having a new 'cousin' to deal with too. Things sure had changed a lot within just a couple of days...
